the episode changes
*differences between the web and dvd releases of the episode*- The web release is squished by a few pixels vertically, making the characters appear shorter than they actually are.
- The DVD release starts with a “PREVIOUSLY on nirvana the band” title card and a brief recap of the previous episode, ending with a “TODAY” title card (that overlaps the start of the next scene by a single frame).
- The logo in the intro has the same changes from episode 1 but the position/scaling is unchanged.
- At 00:41 a camera cut to Jay while Matt is talking is removed in the DVD release.
- At 01:13 in the DVD release the shot lingers on Matt with his mouth open, while the web version lingers on Jay’s smiling face for a longer amount of time.
- At 01:25 in the original web release when Matt is listing off things and says “no money…” Jay cuts him off and says “I- I don’t think you’re (worth??) having a g-friend…”. Matt replies with “I’m not talking about a long term thing, I’m just talking about an evening, an afternoon… [Jay laughs] Someone on the quick. You know what I mean? Like lighting a match and sniffing it… Just a g-friend, you know what I mean?”. In the DVD release instead of Jay cutting him off, the shot lingers on Matt thinking about other things to list off for another few seconds befor Jay asks “what’s a g-friend?”, to which Matt replies “Girl”. The shot that follows of Jay giving a shrug is also cut differently by a few frames in each version.
- At 03:24 the cut to Jay pushing Matt away from him is slightly shortened in the DVD release.
- At 03:38 the text “two hours later” was changed to “Two hours later”, was moved from the center to the bottom-left, and lingers on the screen longer in the DVD release.
- At 03:54 the camera cuts are slightly altered to linger on Jay longer in the DVD release.
- At 04:48 the text “okay.” was changed to “Okay.” and “Ok. So I need to get a…get in, ya?” was changed to “So I need to get a…get in ya?” in the DVD release.
- At 05:19 the montage has some altered camera cuts but the audio timing was left intact, so when the two are side-by-side the visuals become desynced for a bit.
- At 05:36 the text “Getting a g-friend 11:17 a.m.” was added to the bottom-left of the DVD release.
- At 05:43 a scene was completely removed from the DVD release where Matt says “You can’t just walk up to girls and ask them random questions…”, Jay replies with “Yeah you can” and Matt says “That’s sexual harassment…” Jay pauses for a sec before saying “yeah…. yeah but.. no no no no-“.
- At 06:48 the text “He’s leaving. There.” was changed to “He’s leaving - there.” in the DVD release.
- At 08:37 a different shot of Matt is shown in the DVD release, possibly because it had better lighting on his facial expression.
- At 11:20 the camera lingers on Jay a bit longer before cutting to Matt in the DVD release.
- At 12:11 a shot where Amelia hints at Jay having a small penis is removed in the DVD release and replaced with a shot of Jay looking at the door without a cut to Matt’s face.
- At 12:21 the shot of Jay turning around to look at Matt was also replaced with another in the DVD release.
- At 12:28 the camera cuts were altered in the DVD release.
- At 12:34 the scene of Matt on the couch is slightly extended.
- At 12:47 the shot of Jay lingers on him for a bit longer in the DVD release before cutting to Matt.
- At 13:51 the “20 minutes later” title card starts immediately over the Wii Sports scene instead of being it’s own screen on black.
- At 15:46 the ending scene where Matt finds a new band is completely different in the DVD release. In the web release Matt walks out and Jay says “Are you kidding me? Come on… He’ll be back in 5 minutes…” and then it cuts to Matt with The Born Ruffians with text on the screen saying “Rehearsing with the Born Ruffians 11:17 a.m.” and the scene ends with Matt asking if they want to do a cover of Chocolate Rain. In the DVD release Jay says “Who’s going to work with you? You’re a psycopath.” Matt replies with “What are you talking about?” and Jay says “Well you’re a psychopath.” Matt replies saying “You just cursed Hole 9 before the rock. Think about that shit. And I can find a new band like that” and snaps his fingers. As he snaps his fingers the camera cuts to Matt with The Born Ruffians with text on the screen saying “Rehearsing with The Born Ruffians”. As they are rehearsing Matt says “And then people are gonna- this is gonna raise a lot of questions… Why is this guy in The Born Ruffians?”
- The text-font styling at the end of the episode is modified slightly to be like the text changes in the other episodes.
