the episode changes

*differences between the web and dvd releases of the episode*
  • The logo shown at the beginning of the episode was slightly changed from the web version of the episode to the DVD release. When overlapping both on top of each other you can see the font weight, kerning, and drop-shadow having changed in the logo.
  • When the names are displayed during the intro sequence, the DVD release has the names moved more towards the bottom of the screen. The other names have also been moves ever so slightly.
  • A lot of the shots are colour corrected in the DVD release. Skin tones look a lot more peachy than yellow/orange.
  • At 03:55 the web version of the episode it shows “2:21 p.m.” in the bottom-left corner, but this is not in the DVD release.
  • At 04:07 the web version extends the previous scene for about a second longer before cutting.
  • At 4:09 the web version says “2:40 p.m.” in the bottom-left corner, while the DVD release does not.
  • At 5:10 the web version plays the “nirvana the band the show” bumper with Pop Goes Bach playing before playing the rest of the episode. It is presumed this is where the very first cut of this episode ended when it was initially posted to the website.
  • At 5:12 the DVD release has the “Preparing press kit” text displayed as soon as it cuts to this shot, while the web version waits for jay to say “2577” before showing the text on screen, and the DVD release has the text linger for much longer.
  • At 6:54 the web version plays the “nirvana the band the show” bumper with Pop Goes Bach before going into the next scene.
  • The next scene starts with an additional 4s of dialogue in the web version, with Matt saying “it’s ringing” and Jay saying “holy shit” before the “Phoning Rivoli” text appears on-screen. The DVD version cuts immediately to when the text appears, instead saying “Phoning the Rivoli”.
  • At 8:37 the web version immediately cuts after Jay runs back to the door at the beginning of the montage, while the DVD version lingers for a moment to see Jay struggling to find his keys.
  • The flashback scenes within the montage from 8:43 onward were in-color in the web version, but made black-and-white on the DVD release. Matt explains in the commentary for this episode that he changed it to have continuity with the way they did flashbacks in the future episodes.
  • The montage is about 2 seconds longer in the DVD release as a result of all the slight edits, so it ends at a later part in the song
  • At 9:25 the web version surrounded the subtitles of the woman at the Rivoli in quotes (“), and her “ok” at the end is all lowercase in the web version while entirely uppercase in the DVD release.
  • The credits at the end of the episode, when overlapped, have changed their position and font size. They also linger for much longer in the web version
